Not Brentford

London Road, Brentford End ca 1913

Sepia view of three-storey terrace shops

Howard Webb has provided a scan of his postcard, which was published by W H Applebee circa 1913.

The card shows the area immediately to the west of Brentford Bridge, which is visible to the left. Numbers 1-13 London Road appear to be shops. See for a similar view taken in 2008 and a front-on view of numbers 1-13 taken around 1975.

Advertising hoardings for 'The People' and 'News of the World' are on the canal-side of no. 1 London Road.

The railway bridge carried a spur to Brentford Docks.
