Brentford Gas Works Christmas Party ca 1960

Hall of seated children smartly dressed with party hats

Trevor Mitchell provided this photo from a children's Christmas party: 'My Grand Father and Father both worked at the Brentford Gasworks. I am in the front row second left. Fortunately I never took to wearing hats.'

'The back of the photo was stamped copyright Reginald Davis 28 Heriot Rd. Despite the years I decided to try and track him down, with success. He no longer has records for this period and so cannot give a precise date when the picture was taken.'

'I received a reply giving permission for it to be used by Mr Davis if you wish to include it in the Brentford website.'

'A small postscript is that he is now a royal photographer.'

Steve Bailey added in May 2010 'I would say that the guy in shirt & slacks, with his right arm around an older lady and left round a younger lady (front row 4th from left) bears a very strong resemblance to John Sutcliffe (lived in Hinchley wood), District Engineer at Kew Bridge Pumping station throughout the 1960s. I worked alongside him as his assistant for about three years. I don't recognise the building with the parquet flooring but, gas & water staff worked quite closely in those days so I'd go along with the notion that it was at the Gas Works (next door).'

If you recognise yourself or anyone else in the photo please get in touch.
