York Mineral Water Company Bottle

We bought this bottle a few years ago, my husband Richard took the photo:

Dumpy mineral water bottle

The bottle is in thick, pale green glass embossed:
YORK
MINERAL WATER CO LTD
BRENTFORD
The base has 'J L & Co Ltd' and the number 786. https://www.glassbottlemarks.com/bottlemarks-3/ suggests the bottle was made by John Lumb of Castleford, Yorkshire and the 'Ltd' indicates a date between 1905 and 1937, when the company was taken over by United Glass Ltd.

The bottle is 18cm (7 inches) tall and weighs 328 gm (11 5/8 oz) empty, 500gm, 1 lb 1 3/4 oz when full: it held around a quarter of a pint.

The History of Brentford website has more information about the company: http://www.brentfordhistory.com/tag/york-mineral-water-co-ltd/ and London Metropolitan Archives holds some company records: ref ACC/2305/58.

There are a few references to the company and people who worked there on this site: find them by using the search facility.
