As well as placing a trader at a particular address between censuses, the adverts also include some useful snippets of information:
  • William Lee the butchers was 'late O'Hara' and the business was established 50 years in 1889
  • E Newens the baker was established 'upwards of a century'
  • J Stringer the butcher was late 'R W Hughes' and this business was established in 1798
