Brentford Families - Lynch

Milli Shooter writes

My fathers’ Lynch family lived in Brentford for over 140 years. I have found records of birth and baptism from 1808 in Isleworth/Brentford areas. The family seems to be quite large and living in places such as Red Lion Yard, Back Lane, Running Horses Yard, Pottery Road, Distillery Rd.

Robert Lynch was my grtgrandfather, born Brentford 1846. He married Mary Ann Heather in the Albany Chapel in 1872. Over the years he did several jobs including Butler, barman but as he got older he was nightwatchman (at Brentford docks I believe) and also photographer. I do know he had a younger brother who had his own photography business.

Robert and Mary had several children, one of them my grandfather Albert Edward Lynch born 1886 in Running Horses Yard. I have not definitely identified Albert in the 1901 census as he is not listed at home. Albert married and lived in Fulham where my father was born. Albert was killed in action in 1917.

Robert’s father was also Robert born Isleworth in 1819. He married Maria Hutchinson born Chelsea in 1845. In turn his father was Owen Lynch born Roscommon, Ireland c1766. The 1841 census shows him as a general dealer. According to his death certificate he was 91 years old when he died 1858.

Owen is first recorded in Isleworth in 1808 when his first known child was born. He would have been around 40ish so he either married late or there are other siblings I have not found. I thought maybe he may have been a soldier from Hounslow barracks?

Milli has notes of 50-100 family members, surnames include Hutchinson, Heather, Earl, White, Smith and Clark. Please email if you would like to get in touch with Milli.
