Brentford Families - Padbury

Short note on my family in Brentford. My g g grandfather Edward Padbury 1819-84 came here from Hampshire in 1842. He was a Blacksmith and then a beer seller at the Jolly Gardeners in Drum Lane.

Edward Padbury married Eliza Lee (1821-1881); they were at 2 Drum Lane with William and Ann Lee in 1851 and at the Jolly Gardeners Drum Lane in 1861 (with Ann Lee, widow, beer seller) and in 1871; they had 6 children:

• Eliza Padbury 1845-1915 married William Taylor
• William Padbury 1849-78 married Louisa Carter
• Edward Padbury 1851-1905 married Mary Ann Park; Edward was a Greengrocer in North Road
• John Frederick Padbury 1854-1919 married Louisa James daughter of William Henry James 1815-77; John was a potato dealer and beer retailer in Ealing Road; in 1891 he was running a Tradesman Shop at 13 Ealing Road; 1901 at the same address as a beer retailer;1911 he is at 58 Albany Road as a retired beer house keeper; he died at this address in 1919; he had a large Brentford family, 7 children:
  • Louisa Padbury 1879-1907 married John Allen
  • John Frederick Padbury 1881-1960 married Lina George 1886-1957 from Harlington; John worked for the Gas Board and lived at 79 Ealing Road; he had 1 son John Padbury 1908-1956, he married Hilda Spencer 1910-2001
  • William Henry Padbury 1882-1917 married Elizabeth Price
  • Emma Padbury 1886-9
  • Eliza Padbury 1887-1965 married Albert Henry Coles (Albert Coles ran a couple of Brentford pubs)
  • Walter Padbury 1890-1967 married Sarah Francis (I think Walter was landlord of the Lord Nelson pub in Enfield Road)
  • Edward Padbury 1893 married Annie Francis; lived at 77 Ealing Road
• Maria Padbury 1857-1932 married Charles Brown
• Frances Padbury 1843-64 maried John Ezra Hawkins; Edward Padbury brought up their son Alfred Ezra after they both died in the 1860s

My family lived at 41 Mafeking Avenue 1932-56 and then the Clayponds Estate.
