E.C.Jones & Son (Brentford) Ltd - BANTAM I Launch

Bantam I launch, 1948
BANTAM I launch, 1948

The photo, which is provided by Pam Vernon-Roberts, is described by her as

'Mrs Ada Jones launches BANTAM I in 1948. Edith (Ted's wife) is on the left standing next to Barbara, Stan's wife. The two men are Stan and his father Ted, is sure to be working behind the scenes and not in a suit!. Pam is holding big sister Ann's hand.'

See the family page for links to find out more about the Jones family.

E.C. Jones used BANTAM I on the River Thames for a few years then sold her to Swan Hunter. Swan Hunter sold her to Tyne Towage in 1987. In 2004 Tyne Towage were taken over by Svitzer and the tug remains in service with new livery. (Pam's files lodged at Chiswick Library include more detail about this and the other Bantams.)
