After the war he returned to the family business where he worked with his brother, Ted, building the boats but chose to leave it in the 1950's and pursued a career at Heathrow Airport.

He married Daisy Smith on the 3rd April 1943 and they had a son Robert born on 14th March 1944 and a daughter Janice born 29th June 1946.

Robert lived in Whitton, Twickenham all his married life. He died in 1975 and his wife died in 1999.
