Sepia photo of Alice Newman outside 245 High Street, 1936

Double-fronted shop with recessed door with a lady; the windows have tinsel or streamers Diane Lockie has sent this photo showing her grandmother Alice Newman outside her novelty shop at 245 High St Brentford. Diane's great great grandfather, Thomes W Stockley was a councillor for Brentford from 1927-1931. He lived at 29 Kenley Rd Brentford.

The Odeon poster on the left is for Forget Me Not, an operatic romantic drama starring Beniamino Gigli first screened in 1936, so it seems likely the photo was taken this year.

The site also includes a photo of no. 245 taken in 1900.

See details of no. 245 and area.
