Brentford Monument c1910 - 1915

Howard Webb sent in this W H Applebee postcard image showing the Brentford Monument, presumably not long after it was erected in 1909. See a different view and more details of the monument's history.

The image has been cropped to remove sky. The setting can be seen more clearly in another postcard image: the distinctive frontage of the boathouse next to the Ferry Hotel is visible to the right of the monument. There are a number of barrels behind the monument in the view below.

Inscribed cylindrical monument about 15-20' high, river in background

'Brentford As It Was' and 'Brentford Past' include a photo of the unveiling ceremony, 12 May 1909, by the Duke of Northumberland .
